Question by Thequestionator: How do I get rid of carpet odor?
My parents recently bought a new house with just one problem.... the livingroom carpet reeks! Is there any way to get the smell of dog/cat urin out without ripping up the carpet? My mother has a very sensitive nose and she has tried every "odor-eliminating" product on the market!

Rent a carpet scubber and steamer from Home Depot, or pay to have it done, which is about $ 200-$ 300 dollars.

Question by Rachel D: What is the best from the store product for removing carpet odor?
I'm not looking for a stain remover. Just something to get rid of, not cover, the odor.
Spray, vacuum up, whatever, doesn't matter, but I don't want to get my carpet wet. I don't want to have to lift the carpet either.
My dad suggested using lysol wipes, but somehow I can't see that working.
So what does?
NOT repeat NOT looking for stain remover. I just want to freshen my carpet.
CARPET, not rug, CARPET. Big difference.

Try using one of those dry carpet cleaners that is mostly baking soda. Shake it into the carpet and allow to stand overnight, then vacuum. Then USE a carpet/rug cleaner. You dont have to do the whole room, just the area with the stain.

Question by blahblahblahblahblah: Anyone know of a good carpet sanitizer and odor eliminator?
My landlords had to do some work on my toilet pipes from problems the previous tennant caused, without going into gross details my carpet (yes they have carpet in the bathroom, don't know why) smells like urine. I don't want something that will just cover up the odor I want something that will kill the germs too. Thanks for any help. (perhaps a cleaner for pet urine remover)

Renting as steam cleaning machine is out of the question and demanding my landlords take care of it is out of the question

In a instance like this, for the time and labor you would spend it is much better to have a carpet cleaner come in and clean it, most of them run specials on multiple rooms.

Question by Sara: How can I get rid of the mouse odor after its been removed?
So Tuesday my basement spare room started to smell. My dad went out and checked to see if anything was dead in the window well (since its open to anything falling or going in there). Sure enough, a mouse tried getting in and didnt make it. He removed it. Well it still smelled, horrible. So my dad again went out there to take apart everything and see if there was still anything in there. Of course, another mouse was in the window on top, dead. He removed it. Its smelled up the whole basement (including my bedroom, ish!) and we've tried, febreze, opening the windows and putting some carpet odor eliminator in there. None of it has worked. How can we get the smell to go away after the mice have been removed?

Use a product containing bleach. DISINFECT!!! hehe
