If you are unlucky enough to have a cat urine stain on your furniture, don't worry because it is possible to remove it if you do it in the right way! The question what removes cat urine is a very common one and there are several methods you can try.
If you can't remove the cover from your upholstery, first dab the stains with an absorbent paper towel or cloth. Make sure you dab rather than rubbing because you don't want to spread the stain. Next, mix 2 cups of warm water with a tablespoon of white vinegar. Dab this on to the stain before applying a stain and odor remover to get rid of the bacteria and enzymes. You can use Outright Pet Stain Remover, Pet Oops Remover, Stain Gobbler or something similar.
Clean the stain using a circular motion and make sure you clean from the outside inwards so as not to spread it. You can use a cloth or a soft-bristled brush. When the stain is gone, use a handheld hairdryer on a cool setting to dry it. Make sure you dry using circular motions from the outside in.
If you don't have a specialist pet stain remover, you can spray the stain with a cleaning product which contains 3% hydrogen peroxide but no ammonia. Wait for 5 minutes then use an absorbent cloth to blot the area. Don't rub but press it down firmly for 30 seconds. Keep doing this until the area is dry.
What Removes Cat Urine from Hardwood Floors?
The problem with cat urine on hardwood floors is that it can cause the wood to rot if not promptly treated. It is easiest to treat the problem if you catch it while it is still quite fresh. First, you need to blot the whole area with an absorbent paper towel or a dry cloth. Use white vinegar to wash the stain then rinse it with warm water. Blot it dry with absorbent paper towels or a dry cloth.
Next you need to apply a specialized odor and stain remover to get rid of the enzymes and bacteria. You should always test these products on an invisible area of the hardwood floor, such as under a piece of furniture. If you have an old stain and it won't shift, you might need to sand the affected area down and reseal the wood.
It is very important to get rid of the odor because if a trace of it remains, the cat will be likely to urinate again in the same place. Cats actually urinate indoors for several reasons. They might be marking their territory, upset or afraid, a male un-neutered cat, a female cat in heat or there could be some other reason. Older cats have a diminished renal function, which results in worse odor but not such a bad stain.

I'm not looking for a stain remover. Just something to get rid of, not cover, the odor.
Spray, vacuum up, whatever, doesn't matter, but I don't want to get my carpet wet. I don't want to have to lift the carpet either.
My dad suggested using lysol wipes, but somehow I can't see that working.
So what does?
NOT repeat NOT looking for stain remover. I just want to freshen my carpet.

Try using one of those dry carpet cleaners that is mostly baking soda. Shake it into the carpet and allow to stand overnight, then vacuum. Then USE a carpet/rug cleaner. You dont have to do the whole room, just the area with the stain.
